In the school setting, it is crucial to provide critical pedagogical mediations that problematize the lessons that students negotiate with the media. The work aims to categorize and analyze a mapping of the scenario of Media-Visual Literacy in nine public schools in a municipality in Rio Grande do Sul. Data collection was done through a questionnaire answered by 110 teachers. We used the content analysis method and, in this article, we analyze two of the four categories that emerged. The research subjects understand Media-Visual Literacy as a relevant element in school pedagogy and believe that teaching work is often guided by such media.
